Rose-Croix d'Orient Initiation Floor Cloth

An initiation floor cloth of the Rose-Croix d'Orient, made to order to the specification supplied. At seven feet square it sits at the centre of the working space without crowding it.

Symbolic Content

Two concentric circles enclose the field, and a saltire quarters the ground within them. Four stars are set in the ring between the circles, one to each quarter.

יהשוה stands at the head of the cloth. ΙΗΣΟΥΣ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ runs along the arc between the two circles. The Greek names of the archangels are set at the margins — ΓΑΒΡΙΗΛ, ΡΑΦΑΗΛ, and ΜΙΧΑΗΛ — and a ruled border frames the whole.

Every element is placed to the specification supplied. Nothing is approximated, repositioned for visual balance, or altered to fit the cloth.

Materials & Construction

The ground is organic cotton, printed and sized to a full seven-foot square. The linework is black and the lettering red, both carried on a white ground, so the geometry and the inscriptions hold at working distance under candlelight, lamplight, or daylight.

The cloth lies flat without bunching and rolls cleanly for transport.

Use

Centred in the working space for initiation. The saltire divides the field into four clear quarters, and the margins carry the Hebrew at the head with the archangelic names to the remaining three sides.

Care

Spot clean only with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash, wring, or dry clean. Lay flat or roll for storage — do not fold along the printed lines. Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight. With reasonable care this cloth will last decades of working use.
