The Tau — the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet, the sign of the cross before the cross — has been worn by initiates of the Western Mystery Tradition for centuries. This is a working garment, not a costume, and the construction matches that. Every robe is cut and sewn to one practitioner's measurements. There is no rack stock and no shared pattern. The deep bell sleeves and full-length fall move with the body in ritual without binding, gathering, or shifting at the shoulders. Double-stitched throughout.

Shown in 100% linen; also made in Italian silk-wool and Australian merino. The cut is identical at every fabric — only the fabric changes.

Fabric — the fabric you choose sets the price

100% Linen — $245. Breathes and moves like water. Stays cool through a long working in a warm hall. The honest, everyday choice.

Italian Silk-Wool Blend — $425. More weight and a quiet sheen. Holds its line and drapes where linen flows. A mid-weight robe for year-round wear.

Australian Merino Wool — $795. The finest drape and the longest life. Warm without bulk, and it wears for decades. The robe that outlasts the initiate.

Add a hoodlet — a deep, generous hood, matched to your robe fabric

  • 100% Linen — +$75
  • Italian Silk-Wool — +$85
  • Australian Merino Wool — +$100

The hoodlet is offered as an add-on at checkout at the bundle price above. (Hoodlets are also available on their own: linen $95, silk-wool $110, merino $125.)

Add a Golden Dawn Neophyte Sash — $75 (normally $95)

Black mikado matte satin with a white triangle, made to the 0=0 spec. Offered as an add-on at checkout, or read the full sash details.

Part of the Golden Dawn Neophyte Kit — robe, hoodlet, and sash together save $40.

Made to measure

Every garment is cut to one measurement set. Use the "How to Measure" guide on this page to take your numbers — neck to floor, shoulder to fingertip, chest, height, and head — and send them with your order. Sizes above XXL: contact us for a quote, and the flat price covers the standard range.

Construction

Double-stitched throughout — every stress seam doubled rather than single-passed — so the garment holds up to repeated handling, packing, hanging, and lodge use. The sleeves are cut on the bell so they fall correctly with the arms either at rest or extended in ritual gesture. Sewn in Virginia by an initiated practitioner.

Use & Care

Worn for grade work, opening and closing rituals, magical operations, and order ceremonies. Hang to store. Spot clean linen for routine care; dry clean the silk-wool blend and merino wool. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. With reasonable care, the robe is built to last decades of working use.
